What’s New for Fall 2026
We have many new initiatives related to our Honors Program coming soon:
We’re re-opening the Honors Suite on the 3rd floor of ɫɫо’s Earl K. Long Library. This will include a new Honors Lounge, where we’ll host events, workshops, and special study sessions with refreshments for students.
We’re launching new dedicated Honors sections of innovative, interdisciplinary courses: in Fall 2026, we’ll be offering both a special Honors section of UNIV. Look also for A&S 2999, Forms of Inquiry, which we’re subtitling “Aliens, Beasts, Monsters: Forms of Inquiry into the Unknown”. In this course, faculty from across the university explore how their disciplines produce knowledge, using examples from popular culture and fringe science.
Most importantly, we’re building a new campus community around Honors education, with links to programs supporting student research, both locally and globally. We want to see our students getting involved in hands-on experiential research across the City of New Orleans, making lasting contributions to their discipline, the university, and the surrounding community.
We believe that this sort of research has impact far outside of our region, and that our students can position themselves as the leaders in their field of study early in their careers, whether academic or professional.
